I READ THE NEWS TODAY

As a British citizen, I have never understood America's epidemic of gun violence. It's inextricably stitched into the fabric of the American experience.

Gun violence is the leading cause of death for children in America.  It is unconscionable for politicians to accept this carnage as the cost of doing business.

This piece weaves together newspaper clippings of incidents of gun violence. These tragedies are interwoven into the fabric of the piece, representing layers upon layers of loss. The fabric moves with the air just as American gun violence undulates through communities, wafting lives away as though they're light as a feather.

For me, John Lennon's song, "I Read the News Today", perfectly captures the lunacy of this perpetual nightmare.
